Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial: formatting sentences with knowbrainer commands

In this Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial,  I describe a way using a Knowbrainer 2017 command to format your sentence like this "This Is My Formatted Sentence". The command is called "Title case"

Here is a short YouTube video that I have posted to describe this:

Backjoy maybe the cheapest and most portable way to alleviate lower back pain

If you're one of the millions who has become part of the epidemic of back pain, you may have tried a variety of approaches to deal with it. There are several chairs on the market ranging from the cheaper versions like the exercise ball chair, the kneeling chair to the more exotic zero gravity chair.

But if you're just starting out on your quest to find an arrangement to reduce the risk of back pain, you may want to try out a much cheaper and portable version like Backjoy first.

I have used all the chairs mentioned above. I still have the kneeling chair and an old used zero gravity chair. And I did have varying amount of success with all of these when I was in an office job.

I came across Backjoy after I had to quit my job due to fibromyalgia. So I cannot attest to its efficacy while sitting for 8+ hours in a desk job. But I have certainly benefited immensely by using it in the car and also while sitting cross legged on the floor during meditation sessions which for me can las…

Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial: Basic commands for navigating in Microsoft Excel

In this Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial, I show basic commands for navigating Microsoft Excel.

As compared to Microsoft Word, the documentation for using Dragon NaturallySpeaking with Microsoft Excel is pretty limited. So I thought of creating this blog post and also a YouTube video which is appended at the end of this post.

Here is a list of commands which are included in the video.

Navigate through the worksheet by saying "go to the next worksheet" or "go to previous worksheet"Navigate to a particular cell by saying "go to the cell column row". Note that you can use the military alphabet equivalent to say the column name to reduce the chance of misinterpretation. You can select a particular column or row by saying "select row/column". You can also select several columns or rows by saying "select next 5 columns" or by saying "select next 5 rows".You can insert a row by saying "insert row"you can insert a column by…

Ayurvedic antiseptic useful in healing anorectal disorders such as anal fissures

I have been dealing with the anal fissures starting from year 2000. This year, I experienced repeated episodes in the past couple of months. Thankfully they were healed using conservative methods. I was very regular and disciplined with the sitz bath. I think they help immensely. This time, an Ayurvedic doctor recommended that I add an Ayurvedic medication called panchavalkala kwatha to the water in the sitz bath.

Even though I cannot accurately establish the efficacy of this medication, the fact that I seem to have recovered much faster than as compared to earlier episodes even though this time I was suffering from additional symptoms of fibromyalgia, it does seem that this medication help speed up the healing.

There are some research articles which seem to suggest that this does help in healing so I would recommend considering this as a part of conservative therapy for healing anal fissure.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial: How to use the vocabulary editor

In this Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial, I show how to use a Vocabulary Editor.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking provides a Vocabulary Editor to change the properties of any word that Dragon recognises.

The most common option that is used in the Vocabulary Editor is to retrain a word. For example, if you have a word in Dragon's vocabulary, such as "Smith" and if you realise that Dragon is not interpreting your pronunciation of the word, then you can retrain the word using the Vocabulary Editor.

You can also add or delete a word using the Vocabulary Editor. Adding or deleting the word can also be done by dictating a new word and then correcting Dragon's interpretation of that dictation. The Vocabulary Editor will be useful in situations which you need to add several words in a single batch.

I have made a YouTube video with this Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial. Apart from showing you how to train a word, I also give a quick overview of the properties that Dragon can assoc…

Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial : Doing arithmetic operations with knowbrainer 2017

In this Dragon NaturallySpeaking tutorial I describe how to do arithmetic operations quickly.

On Windows, you can perhaps use the calculator application but it is difficult to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking . Microsoft Excel is pretty heavyweight and again tedious to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

Fortunately, knowbrainer 2017 has provided the calculate command to do the basic arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. As mentioned earlier in the blog, knowbrainer 2017 is essentially a scripting tool that will help you automate any operation using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. In this case, knowbrainer 2017 launches the calculator application, types the digits that are interpreted by Dragon NaturallySpeaking, waits for the results to be calculated and then copy is the result of the clipboard.

The keywords that are used for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division are plus, minus, times, divided by. So, for example, you can say 23 divided by 5 …
